Hard to believe Christmas has come and gone already and we are back in school again. It's taken me this long to adjust and finally update our blog. We had a wonderful Christmas season and enjoyed having Merilee here to spend it with us. Some of the highlights were a boat cruise on Lake Coeur d' Alene, eagle watching, the kids acting out the nativity story, playing games on the Wii, visiting the Cataldo Mission, seeing the Yogi Bear movie and just spending time in the kitchen baking and listening to Christmas music. The kids were out of school for two weeks and Steve had some time off from work so it was a nice and relaxing holiday. We needed it since we closed on our new house and will be moving soon. We enjoyed getting the cards and phone calls from friends and family over the holidays. Being so far away, we really cherish them and hope 2011 brings you all much needed peace and happiness.

Grandma teaching Ella how to do a 1000 piece puzzle. It snowed all day so we made monkey bread and worked on a puzzle all day. The kids played with their toys and outside in the snow. It was a fun and relaxing day after the holidays.

We took a field trip to the Cataldo Mission which is just east of Coeur d' Alene. This was built by Jesuit Priests and Indians in 1850 and is the oldest standing building in Idaho.

Bald Eagle
Between Christmas and New Year's we went down to Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d' Alene to watch bald eagles. We were told that between November and January, hundreds of eagles come to this point to feed on fresh water Kokanee Salmon that spawn in this bay. It was amazing to watch them in their natural habitat and fly down hunting for fish.

How many more pictures before we can open gifts??? After dinner the kids acted out the nativity story with Reagan as Mary, Logan as Joseph and Lola as the angel. Ella fell asleep or she could have been baby Jesus. The kids did a great job and can't wait to see it again next year.
After church we came home and had our traditional holiday dinner. We were so blessed to have Grandma Merilee spend Christmas with us this year

One of the highlights of the holiday season was taking a boat cruise on Lake Coeur d' Alene to the North Pole. As you board the boat, an elf asks for the names of all kids on board and then after a cup of hot cocoa, we magically arrive at the North Pole where Santa comes out to greet us and reads the list of names. The kids were excited to hear their names read by Santa. The light display was spectacular and it was fun to watch the kids get so excited.
